What you actually need to start

You need less than the internet suggests.

  • 01 · Your first few monthsA shaker, a water bottle and a decent bag will cover it.
  • 02 · Training 3+ times a weekAdd a protein powder if you're struggling to hit your intake from food.
  • 03 · Close to your limitSupport kit — a lifting belt, wrist wraps, lifting straps — becomes useful on the big compound lifts, not before.

Learn the movement first, then add the equipment.

Stocked in every Kings Gym club

Every one of our clubs carries on-site supplements and the Kings Gym store, so you can pick up a shaker or a tub of protein on the way out. That's the same range you'll find here, minus the wait.

FAQs

What are the gym must-haves for a beginner?

A shaker, a water bottle and a gym bag will cover your first few months. Add a protein powder once you're training three or more times a week and finding it hard to hit your protein intake from food alone.

When do I actually need a belt, straps or wraps?

When you're working close to your limit on heavy compound lifts — squats, deadlifts, heavy pressing. Support kit helps you handle loads your grip or bracing can't yet manage on its own. Before that, learning the movement matters more than the equipment.

Can I buy supplements and accessories at a Kings Gym club?

Yes. All our clubs carry on-site supplements and the Kings Gym store, so you can pick up protein, a shaker or lifting kit on your way in or out.

Do you sell gym must-haves as a bundle?

Bundles change seasonally rather than running permanently. The best way to catch them is to check the collection for current offers, or ask at the counter in club.
